A due anni dall’esordio discografico tornano The Backdoor Society di Piacenza: Giovanni Orlandi (vocals), Simone Modicamore (guitar), Andrea Corti (Drums) e Denis Cassi (bass). Dopo la notevole vibrazione beat-garage-psych del 2019 con 
l’album omonimo (Area Pirata) ed il primo singolo (Hidden Volume), salgono sull’arcobaleno Hypnotic Bridge con uno splendido vinile 7 pollici. Prima presenza italiana nell’etichetta californiana in un contesto rivitalizzante tra realtà artistiche internazionali ispirate ai suoni degli anni 60.
The Backdoor Society sono affascinati dalla grande esperienza Nederbeat, la scena garage olandese tra le più originali nel panorama mid 60s Europeo, in particolare da gruppi come Outsiders e Q 65 già cultori di espressioni più dinamiche assimilate da Rolling Stones e Pretty Things. Suoni che nascono da una profonda passione anche nel proseguire un percorso avviato tra la fine degli anni 90 e i primi 2010 in due album e altrettanti singoli realizzati come The Rookies. Un flusso creativo di prossimità al meraviglioso movimento neo60s italiano sviluppatosi nella seconda metà degli anni 80 e magistralmente narrato da Roberto Calabrò nel libro ‘Eighties Colours’.
Immediatezza garage, vitalità beat, suggestione psichedelica che The Backdoor Society fondono in un nuovo caleidoscopio supersonico sviluppato in questo singolo con il contributo del prestigioso tastierista Paolo Apollo Negri. ‘On the Run’ saetta nel roteare analogico del mitico organo Hammond su forme d’onda roventi, chitarre che arpeggiano torsioni wah wah, vocals accese e ritmiche tambureggianti. Frenesie istantanee compresse nell’estasi in meno di tre minuti da accelerazioni vertiginose che ripartono con ‘Ballad of a Liar’ tra umori mod-R&B e fraseggi jingle jangle nell’intenso procedere su varie sfumature. Canzoni irresistibili, colme di ruvida sinuosità, che impressionano comunicando alla perfezione con il corpo e con la mente.

Da Piacenza a Sheffield (UK) lungo il battito garage di un cuore rock’n’roll che pulsa nella storia della cult band The Mourning After. Tra i protagonisti del fermento creativo su variabili beat-psych-punk che ha animato la scena inglese all’inizio degli anni 
90, hanno attraversato tre decadi sempre ispirati e fedeli alla scintilla primordiale di pura energia underground. Tre albums e una ventina di singoli illustrati da fantastici artworks, degne presenze in ogni collezione di 7 pollici che si rispetti. Una formazione che nel tempo ha conservato l’anima ideatrice del nucleo originario: Chris Blackburn (vocals, guitar), Lee Radforth (keyboards) e Scott Cardwell (bass). Dalla metà degli anni 2010 The Mourning After avviano una nuova fase realizzativa culminata recentemente con due singoli (Do It Thissen) ‘lathe cut’ in edizione limitatissima a cui succedono ora queste altre due nuove gemme uscite quasi contemporaneamente.
L’acuto scorrere di tasti Farfisa nell’euforia chitarristica fuzz conducono il singolo pubblicato dalla portoghese Chaputa! Records in un vortice garage-punk-R&B reso in poco più di trecento secondi dalla densità lavica di ‘Goodnight God Bless’ e ‘Ain’t My Woman’. Per quanto già notevole, l’intensità del suono tocca vertici timbrici e volumetrici nel 7 pollici uscito per l’etichetta greca Lost in Tyme (che abbiamo incontrato con The Higher State, band rivelatasi in uno spazio-tempo affine). ‘Just Walk Away’ è un turbine acidissimo sferzato da corde e tasti in un’elettrizzante danza bluespunkedelica tra risonanze Howlin’ Wolf di armonica. ‘Sweet Scotchy Rose’ esplora sonorità più psichedeliche di matrice byrdsiana sviluppate dal limpido tintinnare di 12 corde Rickenbacker nell’oscillante inseguire di organo. Due singoli potenti con tanta vita che travolge a 45 rpm!

Da Sheffield a Salonicco, Grecia, per parlare ancora di Alien Mustangs, in evidenza nel cammino della psychedelic youth 
terrestre e nelle cronache di Plenirockium con il loro secondo album “Beat of the Earth”, tra le meraviglie del 2020. Il respiro della Terra nell’elogio di uno sfavillio chitarristico ultrariverberato e tastiere radianti così intenso da produrre energia supplementare durante le sessions di registrazione dell’album. Un tesoro recuperato dai cinque psiconauti per alimentare il decollo di questo UFO 7 pollici dal vicino astroporto Lost in Tyme in orbita planetaria .
La frequenza armonica, sempre ispirata a modelli Spacemen 3 – Loop ed elettronica krautrock, entra in una dimensione ad ampiezza 60s westcoastiana modulata dal freakbeat siderale di Electric Prunes e West Coast Pop Art 
Experimental Band. Da queste coordinate Alien Mustangs sviluppano la propria idea di space rock e psichedelia in un nuovo fantastico viaggio. ‘The World As I Am’ e ‘Planet Bee’ svolgono mantra chitarristici sequenziali echeggianti delicate simmetrie e onde fuzz increspate dai cursori degli strumenti di bordo. Musica che esplora e contempla scandita da voci oniriche, sintetizzatori e organo, su cui convergono gli stroboscopici bagliori elettrici che accendono, impennano e rimodellano i suoni diffondendo note in un crescendo di emozioni.

Two years from the recording debut The Backdoor Society of Piacenza, Italy, are back: Giovanni Orlandi (vocals), Simone Modicamore (guitar), Andrea Corti (Drums) and Denis Cassi (bass). After the remarkable beat-garage-psych vibe of 2019 with the self-titled album (Area Pirata) and the first single (Hidden Volume), they step on the Hypnotic Bridge rainbow with a gorgeous 7-inch vinyl. First Italian presence in the Californian label in a revitalizing context between international artistic realities inspired by the sounds of the 60s.
The Backdoor Society are fascinated by the great Nederbeat experience, the Dutch garage scene among the most original in the European mid 60s scene, in particular by bands such as Outsiders and Q 65 already lovers of more dynamic expressions assimilated by Rolling Stones and Pretty Things. Sounds that arise from a deep passion also in continuing a path started as The Rookies between the end of the 90s and the early 2010s with the release of two albums and two singles. A creative flow of proximity to the wonderful Italian neo-60s movement that developed in the second half of the 80s and masterfully narrated by Roberto Calabrò in the book ‘Eighties Colours’.
Garage immediacy, beat vitality, psychedelic vision that The Backdoor Society merge into a new supersonic kaleidoscope, developed in this single with the contribution of the prestigious keyboardist Paolo Apollo Negri. ‘On the Run’ flashes in the analog rotations of the legendary Hammond organ on hot waveforms, guitars that arpeggiate in wah wah twistings, bright vocals and unceasing rhythms. Instant frenzies compressed into ecstasy in less than three minutes by vertiginous accelerations that restart with ‘Ballad of a Liar’ between mod-R & B moods and jingle jangle phrasings in the intense proceeding on various shades. Irresistible songs, full of rough sinuosity, which impress by communicating perfectly with the body and mind.

From Piacenza to Sheffield, UK, along the garage beat of a rock’n’roll heart that pulses in the history of the cult band The Mourning After. Among the protagonists of the creative ferment on beat-psych-punk variables that animated the English scene at the beginning of the 90s, they crossed three decades always inspired and faithful to the primordial spark of pure underground energy. Three albums and about twenty singles illustrated by fantastic sleeves, worthy presences in every self-respecting 7-inch collection. A line-up that over time has kept the soul of the original core: Chris Blackburn (vocals, guitar), Lee Radforth (keyboards) and Scott Cardwell (bass). From the mid-2010s The Mourning After started a new phase which recently culminated with two very limited edition (Do It Thissen) ‘lathe cut’ singles and now succeeded by these other two new gems released almost simultaneously.
The acute flow of Farfisa keys in the fuzz guitar euphoria lead the single released by the Portuguese Chaputa! Records in a garage-punk-R & B vortex rendered in just over three hundred seconds by the lava density of ‘Goodnight God Bless’ and ‘Ain’t My Woman’. Although already remarkable, the intensity of the sound touches timbric and volume peaks in the 7-inch released by the Greek label Lost in Tyme (which we met with The Higher State, a band with connections in a similar space-time). ‘Just Walk Away’ is a very acid whirlwind lashed by chords and keys in an electrifying bluespunkedelic dance converging on a mouth harmonica that resonates Howlin Wolf. ‘Sweet Scotchy Rose’ explores more psychedelic sounds of Byrdsian matrix developed by the limpid jingle of 12 Rickenbacker strings in the oscillating following of an organ. Two powerful singles with so much life that overwhelms at 45 rpm!

From Sheffield to Thessaloniki, Greece, to talk again about Alien Mustangs, highlighted in the marching of the earthly psychedelic youth and in the chronicles of Plenirockium with their second album “Beat of the Earth”, among the wonders of 2020. The breath of the Earth in praise of an ultra-reverberated guitar sparkle and radiant keyboards so intense that they produce extra energy during the album recording sessions. A treasure recovered by the five psychonauts to fuel the take-off of this 7-inch UFO from the nearby Lost in Tyme spaceport in planetary orbit.
The harmonic frequency, always inspired by Spacemen 3 – Loop models and krautrock electronics, enters a 60s Westcoastian amplitude dimension modulated by the sidereal freakbeat of Electric Prunes and West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. From these coordinates Alien Mustangs develop their own idea of space rock and psychedelia in a new fantastic journey. ‘The World As I Am’ and ‘Planet Bee’ play sequential guitar mantras echoing delicate symmetries and rippled fuzz waves from onboard instrument sliders. Music that explores and contemplates punctuated by dreamlike voices, synthesizers and organ, on which the stroboscopic electric flashes converge that ignite, rise and reshape the sounds, spreading notes in a crescendo of emotions.
