Matteo Dossena (voce, chitarra), Axel Di Lorenzo (chitarra), Enrico Legnini (chitarra, synth, mandolino), Ivano Legnini (basso) e Pierluca Michetti (batteria) sono Sherpa

Poetic desire and need for motion, to play in music a dynamic intuition to give a name on: Sherpa, new Italian quintet (passing by Edith A.u.f.n.) formed in Abruzzo at the slopes of the Gran Sasso in symbiosis with the mountains of Nepal. The first vision is called “Tanzlinde” a wonder wrapped in mystery which is reflected audibly revealing itself in a blossom of sounds and inventions in tune with the great neopsichedelic planetary creative phase of these 2010 years.

It is the embracing beauty of an harmonious flow that explores ecstatic melodies, the overwhelming electrical delicacy travelled by whispered voices, intermittent winds, acoustic textures and remote keyboards. It also breathes an ‘Eighties Colours’ breeze raised from the fertile Italian neosixties psych wave of the 1980s, evoking at times groups such as No Strange, Steeplejack or Allison Run also concretely influential with the presence of Umberto Palazzo in the mixing of part of the album.

Excite the West Coast vibrations of radiance guitars in evidence with ‘Dune’ and ‘Of Coke and Steel’ touched by the Crosby-byrdsian Mind Gardens. Enchant the helical shadows of ‘Tanzlinde’ and ‘Magnetic White Tree’, post rock pastorale on paisley underground – shoegaze perspectives along which dialogue Rain Parade and Spiritualized. Captivate the poetic texts in tune with the energy of the elements, the themes of a music in contact with the Nature, the desire to know crossing boundaries and walls to meet the sounds of the world of ‘Dubinuska’, ‘Sherpa’ and ‘Bigfoot’ (sung in Italian) moved by the vocalization of Ayu Shi and Ila Maa, Indian folk singers.

East still highlight in the mantric essences of ‘Loto’ with an end fading on a gravitational trill that expands few seconds into an infinite. The enthusiastic dedication is called ‘Robert W.’, a twilight dance animated by the echoes of Alifib / Alifie in the sign of the sublime poetry of Robert Wyatt. ‘Plot’ tracks the way out inviting to listen all over again with an instrumental effluvium of cosmic origin accompanied by angelic voices flying over an amazing nature from which rises a constant drone of cicadas.

‘Tanzlinde’ is issued by the German Sulatron Records (where also published Giobia another Italian neopsych band), the vinyl edition is green chlorophyll.

Matteo Dossena (voice, guitar), Axel Di Lorenzo (guitar), Enrico Legnini (guitar, synth, mandolin), Ivano Legnini (bass), Pierluca Michetti (drums) are Sherpa.
