Le buone vibrazioni che Los Angeles e dintorni stanno offrendo a tutti gli psychedelic travellers, rinnovano sostanza con “Strenght of Spring” secondo album di Grave Flowers Bongo Band. Con loro si ascolta musica piuttosto originale avvalorata dal supporto di autentiche espressioni di arte 
eccentrica nell’essere pubblicata da Castle Face Records e nella produzione di Ty Segall. Già con il magnifico esordio “Flower Pot“ (Permanent Records, 2018) attuavano ciò che si presenta come un marchio di fabbrica centrato sulle dinamiche evoluzioni di chitarra acustica (6 e 12 corde) dell’ideatore Gabe Flores che agisce sul suono anche attraverso voce e sax. Una dimensione che rinnovava certi sviluppi freak folk dello scenario underground UK inizio 70s di gruppi come Tea & Symphony, Dando Shaft, Fresh Maggots, Tractor / The Way We Live. Ora nello sfumare dell’elemento folk verso un suono più rock, focalizza lo sguardo sull’universo musicale di Marc Bolan per una personale interpretazione dei tratti inconfondibili del ‘cosmic dancer’ (titolo anche della bellissima biografia di Paul Roland), dai vibrato glam-vocali alla scrittura pop, disponendoli su un flusso colorato di psichedelia westcoastiana brulicante di idee. Un gioco luminescente di suono multiforme che agisce con gusto poliritmico tracciando la sua 
via sui poli di una danza strabica e imprevedibile, incurante della forma e spiazzante non appena se ne intravede il passo.
Le scale acustiche di Gabe Flores abilmente amplificate generano lo spazio in cui si propaga il campo elettrico degli altri due chitarristi Vaughn Christensen e Olaf Selland (anche pedal steel). Una portata intensa di corde che si inseguono, dialogano, si perdono sul leggero oscillare elettronico di Pachy Garcia (Moog synthesizer) e nelle scansioni ritmiche di Andy Caly (bass) e Owen Barrett (drums, percussion – il Shaughnessy Starr degli spacerockers Hooveriii, progetto di Bert Hoover che include anche Gabe Flores nel recente bellissimo “Water For The Frogs”).
Intensa, vertiginosa, eclettica, la musica dei Grave Flowers Bongo Band prodotta da Ty Segall (in sintonia Bolan con vari omaggi a Tyrannosaurus Rex – T. Rex nella sua copiosa discografia) approda all’alta fedeltà oltre le lusinghe stroboscopiche dell’apparenza in un autentico sbocciare di rari profumi e ingegno psichedelico. Una forza organica che nutre “Strenght of Spring” come una fotosintesi visionaria trasformando raggi creativi in linfa sonica a partire dalla tripletta di avvio: ‘Lazy River’ è un decollo spiraliforme tra rintocchi glam-rock che 
condensano nel sax distorto di ‘Sleepy Eyes’, battito vibrante di tribalismo garage ultrafuzz. Subito dopo ecco ‘Tomorrow’, parata finissima di arpeggi raga-blues che innescano ruvide incandescenze freakbeat. Poi le fresche correnti dell’invenzione avvolgono ‘Smile’ in armonici di radiosità westcoastiana dove nitidi intrecci di corde viaggiano sui canali stereo e volano con ‘Inner Bongolia’ in un vertice di splendore espressivo. ‘Animal Lord’, ‘VATMM’ e ‘Outer Bongolia’ traboccano di frenesia con iridescenze 70s hard psichedeliche come ingredienti di un succo acido primordiale. Infine la cover di ‘Down Man’, hit single del 1969 dei progrockers olandesi Brainbox, per chiudere in bellezza con un omaggio di allucinata vena pop ed energia pura.
“Strenght of Spring”, la carica rigogliosa nel suono dei Grave Flower Bongo Band come la virtù di una primavera che nel suo naturale svolgersi acquisisce luce in progressiva ampiezza.

The good vibes that Los Angeles and its surroundings are offering to all psychedelic travelers, renew substance with “Strength of Spring” second album by Grave Flowers Bongo Band. With them you listen to rather original music validated by the support of authentic expressions of eccentric art in being published by Castle Face Records and in the production of Ty Segall. Already with the magnificent debut “Flower Pot” (Permanent Records, 2018) they implemented what looks like a trademark centered on the dynamic acoustic (six and twelve string) guitar evolutions of the leader Gabe Flores who acts on the sound also through voice and sax. A dimension where he reimagined certain freak folk developments of the UK underground scene in the early 70s of bands such as Tea & Symphony, Dando Shaft, Fresh Maggots, Tractor / The Way We Live. Now, in the transition of the folk element towards a more rock sound, he focuses his gaze on the musical universe of Marc Bolan for a personal interpretation of the unmistakable traits of the ‘cosmic dancer’ (also title of the beautiful biography of Paul Roland), from glam-vocal vibrato to pop writing , arranging them on a colorful flow of Westcoastian psychedelia and teeming with ideas. Immediately after, there is ‘Tomorrow’, a very fine parade of raga-blues arpeggios that trigger rough freakbeat incandescences. Then the fresh currents of the invention envelop ‘Smile’ in harmonics of Westcoastian radiance where a clear interlacing of strings travel on the stereo channels and fly with ‘Inner Bongolia’ in a vertex of expressive splendor. ‘Animal Lord’, ‘VATMM’ and ‘Outer Bongolia’ brim over with frenzy and hard psyche 70s like iridescence ingredients of a primordial acid juice. Finally, the cover of ‘Down Man’, hit single from 1969 by Dutch progrockers Brainbox, to end with a flourish with a tribute of hallucinatory pop and pure energy.
