Il telescopio di Plenirockium ancora puntato sulla Svezia per chiudere questo torrido Agosto del 2015 (dopo Hills, Goat e Agusa) con un’altra bella realtà di una scena fertilissima che ci sta appassionando molto.
Parliamo dei Flowers Must Die di Linköping, 
quintetto attivo dal 2009 e piuttosto prolifico fino ad oggi, una storia che vorremmo raccontarvi meglio con una prossima intervista.
Per ora ci soffermiamo alle loro ultime uscite dicendo subito che chiamarsi con il titolo di una canzone degli Ash Ra Tempel (dal secondo movimento di ‘Light and Darkness’) è piuttosto interessante soprattutto se proviene da un capolavoro come ‘Schwingungen’ (1972): ‘Vibrazioni’ allo storico punto di risonanza tra acid rock californiano, psichedelia inglese e jazz cosmico ma anche intensità emotiva nell’esprimere ricerca spirituale e alienazione sub-urbana opposta a scenari naturali per dare un suono alla vita. Meraviglie artistiche alla base del percorso Flowers Must Die con tre album sulla propria etichetta Rev/Vega Records, un paio di cassette ed il bellissimo singolo dello scorso anno “Psykjunta / Pärsonligt Söund” (Rundgång Rekords) ad offrire visioni svedesi di un 
presente vitale con l’omaggio allo ‘psykedelikatessen festival’ Psykjunta (evento annuale tra i boschi dello Småland) e ad un passato importante scritto dai Parson Sound alla fine dei 60s per un esercizio di free rock composto da psichedelia, minimalismo, raga, folk e jazz. Un orizzonte riaperto dai Flowers Must Die su due nuove uscite entrambi caratterizzate da una facciata per lato: nirvana elettrici, fiabe interstellari, contrapposizioni acustiche ed elettroniche in un gioco di coinvolgimento nell’ascolto guidato dalla musica. “Montana / Nusrat ” escono su un 12″ picture disc realizzato da Höga Nord Rekords. ‘Montana’ è una scorribanda chitarristica westcoastiana scintillante space blues, cadenzata da un basso pulsante e ipnotico alla Jah Wobble mentre ‘Nusrat’ (ancora un anagramma di Saturn, nel solco di Sun Ra) accende sintetizzatori gorgoglianti come sfondo cosmico a radiosita fuzz- feedback avvolte su percussioni ipnotiche. Per la cronaca, c’è anche una versione live di ‘Montana’ uscita nel 2014 su ‘Greatest Hits (live)’ per Ljudkassett! (responsabile anche delle prime incisioni dei 
Goat) etichetta devota al culto ‘audiocassette’ e suono analogico. Proseguendo su questo formato arriviamo alla seconda uscita dei Flowers Must Die realizzata da Zeon Light. Ancora due lunghi brani per nuove suggestioni ispirate da due aree naturali tra i monti intorno alla città di Linköping: ‘Berg’ e ‘Berga’. Questa dimesione naturale alimenta melodie folk venate di sperimentazione elettronica: morbide percussioni, chitarre elettriche, flauto e sintetizzatori, un linguaggio espressivo dove fluiscono suoni cosmici profondi e inattesi.

The Plenirockium’s telescope still focused on Sweden to close this torrid August 2015 (after Hills, Goat and Agusa) with another beautiful reality of a fertile scene that that is impassioning us a lot.
We talk about Flowers Must Die from Linköping, a quintet active since 2009 and rather prolific to date, a story that we would like to tell better with an upcoming interview.
For now we will dwell on their latest releases saying immediately that be called with the title of a song by Ash Ra Tempel (the second movement of ‘Light and Darkness’) is quite interesting, especially if it comes from a masterpiece like ‘Schwingungen’ (1972): ‘Vibration’ the historical resonance point between Californian acid rock, English psychedelia and cosmic jazz but also emotional intensity in expressing spiritual quest and sub-urban alienation counterposed to natural scenery to give a sound to life.
Artistic wonders at the basis of the Flowers Must Die trail with three albums on their own label Rev / Vega Records, a couple of tapes and the beautiful single of last year “Psykjunta / Pärsonligt Sound” (Rundgång Rekords) to offer visions of a Swedish dynamic present with the tribute to the ‘psykedelikatessen festival’ Psykjunta (annual event in the woods of Småland) and to an important past written by Parson Sound at the end of the 60s for an exercise of free rock composed by psychedelia, minimalism, raga, folk and jazz.
An horizon reopened by Flowers Mustel Die on two new releases both characterized by a front per side: electrical nirvanas, interstellar fairy tales, acoustics and electronics juxtaposed in a game of involvement in listening guided by the music.
“Montana / Nusrat” are on a 12 “picture disc released by Höga North Rekords. ‘Montana’ is a westcoast guitar incursion sparkling space blues, marked by a pulsating and hypnotic bass Jah Wobble style, while ‘Nusrat’ (even an anagram of Saturn, in the wake of Sun Ra), ignites bubbling synthesizers as cosmic background to radiance fuzz- feedback wrapped on magnetic percussion.
By the way, there is also a live version of ‘Montana’ released in 2014 on ‘Greatest Hits (Live)’ for Ljudkassett! (also responsible for the first recordings by Goat) label devoted to the cult of ‘compact cassette’ and analog sound.
Continuing on this format we come to the second issue of Flowers Must Die released by Zeon Light. Two more long tracks for new suggestions inspired by two natural areas in the mountains around the town of Linkoping: ‘Berg’ and ‘Berga’.
This natural environment feeds folk melodies tinged with electronic experimentation: soft percussions, electric guitars, flute and synthesizer, an expressive language where flowing deep and unexpected cosmic sounds .
