James Barreto e Alex Cordova sono gli Ancient River. Due ragazzi con base in Florida e dalle origini afro-latine. Barreto è nato nello Yemen da padre 
colombiano e madre cubana, Cordova e la sua famiglia sono del Portorico. Vivere negli States e fare la spola tra Chicago, Florida e Texas ha portato a conoscere ed amare le magiche estensioni del rock psichedelico con annesse sperimentazioni freakout. La ricerca di sonorità e rumori magnificenti non impedisce ai musicisti di creare un sound senza definizioni precise, libero nell’esprimersi e pronto a mutevoli schemi.
Certo i Pink Floyd di Ummagumma sono la radice di un suono scintillante che poggia su diverse superfici, così come l’epico Neil Young di “Rust Never Sleeps” e l’intensa nostalgia del capolavoro ‘Thrasher’: Where the eagle glides ascending, there’s an ancient river bending… Creando il parallelo col nome della band.
“After The Dawn” chiude la trilogia partita nel 2014 con “Before The Dawn”, proseguita nel 2015 attraverso “Keeper Of The Dawn”, percependo la stessa indole di fantasmagorica ricordanza. Un itinerario che attraversa oasi e miraggi aridi in un fosco shoegaze, fluttua nel soffio del vento di Meddle e l’hard-prog dei Black Mountain. Un album sospeso tra asprezze terrene e gli esploratori del Tempo, dell’Oscurità e del Cielo. La chitarra di Barreto suggerisce infiniti qubit che bruciano le coordinate olografiche spaziotemporali. Così lo sguardo 
artistico rapisce il deserto e l’azzurro. Rivede se stesso e si accorge di essere in un circuito ellittico in cui ripetere gli eventi in loop. Irresistibilmente maniacale.
‘So Long Ago’, ‘Trust In Me’, ‘Until The End’, ‘Walk With Me’, brani alogeni con dune di roccia e sabbia che svaniscono nel narco-stoner di ‘Under The Stone’. Elisir ansimante.

James Barreto and Alex Cordova are the Ancient River. Two boys based in Florida and of African-Latin origins. Barreto was born in Yemen to a Colombian father and a Cuban mother, Cordova and her family are from Puerto Rico. Living in the States and shuttling between Chicago, Florida and Texas has led to know and love the magical extensions of psychedelic rock with adjoining freakout experiments. The search for magnificent sounds and noises does not prevent musicians from creating a sound without precise definitions, free to express themselves and ready for changing patterns.
Of course Ummagumma’s Pink Floyd are the root of a sparkling sound that rests on different surfaces, as well as the epic Neil Young of “Rust Never Sleeps” and the intense nostalgia for the masterpiece “Trasher”: “Where the eagle glides ascending, there’s an ancient river bending .. “. Creating the parallel with the name of the band.
“After The Dawn” closes the trilogy started in 2014 with “Before The Dawn”, continued in 2015 through “Keeper Of The Dawn”, perceiving the same nature of phantasmagoric memory. An itinerary that crosses oases and arid mirages in a dark shoegaze, floats in the breath of the wind of “Meddle” and the hard-prog of the Black Mountain. An album suspended between earthly harshness and the explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky. Barreto’s guitar suggests infinite qubits that burn space-time holographic coordinates. Thus the artistic gaze captures the desert and the blue. He sees himself and realizes to be in an elliptical circuit where to repeat the events in loop. Irresistibly manic.
